One, we use most of the Google programs already--sites, calendar, sheets, docs, etc--so the teachers already have a Google Drive. Another, student have the ability to communicate with the teacher, but there's no "social media" collaboration. Although that is listed as a disadvantage, I believe it could be an advantage with younger students. Although we use many Google apps, we are not a GAFE school to the best of my knowledge, so the service would not be free. Even though Google Classroom may be more limited in the social learning area, I think it would be worth looking into as an introductory LMS for schools.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"77229101","dateCreated":"1454969724","smartDate":"Feb 8, 2016","userCreated":{"username":"amckinn3","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/amckinn3","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/ed610-sp16.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/77229101"},"dateDigested":1532288440,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Adrianne McKinney","description":"I really enjoy using Google Classroom for extracurricular activities. I sponsor a book club and coding club for fourth and fifth grade, and use Google Classroom to communicate important information to students and parents. While it doesn't provide as many social learning opportunities as some of the other learning management systems, students can provide comments and edit work on one document. This has been especially helpful in my book club. Everyone contributes to writing and answering questions for the assigned books, and provide comments on the side. Students are engaged during face-to-face class discussions because of their interaction online.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"87380637","body":"Adrianne, I love the idea of using a LMS for book clubs.
